I would like to welcome you to version 2 of my journey as a web designer. I have recently begun buying more stock images, when I saw this image I began to think of my recent move to Waltham. It is a new beginning to my life and I figured I should create a new beginning for my site as well. I have continued to grow and learn at my new job at Lycos Inc. I am enjoying my new challenges and embracing the idea of being a multi titled designer/developer. I always thought that being both was part of my job. I have began compiling some new photography in my time in this new area. Although it was not shot in the area in which I am living. Enjoy the new photography and portfolio pieces that have been added!

This post is to talk about the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. This movie was definitely attributed to having me take a vacation after college and truely evaluate myself as a person and as a designer/developer. Watching Will Smith portray the life of Chris Gardener and the trials and tribulations of his life to get a life that he only dreamed of. He shows how drove and determination can allow you to come from the depths and attain any goal you have in life. Basically the life of a designer is two things, enjoying doing their craft and keeping themself ahead of the curve by doing your homework. This movie has motivated me to kick this process into high gear and continue to learn everyday. If you have not seen this movie, trust me, this is a must see.

Today marks the end of the first day in this new beginning for Santos 2 Design Studios. I am excited to turn this leaf and begin taking on more freelance and challenges everyday at my job. I have now been in Massachusetts for 6 months and it has been enjoyable for the most part. Version 1 was a tribute to my time at my first job in my career as a web designer. I designed it right before interviewing for the job. This job was considered a "production" position. Although that job wasn't the greatest in the world, it did teach me how no matter what, you are a designer and you work for the client. You have to know how to detach yourself emotionally from projects. If you get too attached you might get your feelings hurt if decisions don't go your way.

I recently created these designs for a Lycos sub-property called PageFind and another called QFeed. These are sub-search properties of the Lycos Network. They are used to search the internet for sponsored listings. When I designed these pages I was pretty happy with the designs, but seeing the finished product was a rewarding experience. Just knowing where Lycos has come from as a company and being a part of their immediate future. I was proud of myself but ready for another chance to show what I've got in the design game. I have been doing a lot of front-end development lately but I have been thinking about doing some digital art or some vector art. Keep your eyes peeled folks, I may have some new art coming out pretty soon.
